Conter Live is our Scottish election show: asking the questions others won’t.

Let’s be honest, this election is a bit miserable. The outcome, at least in terms of who wins the most seats, seems a foregone conclusion. At a time when the working class majority is under enormous pressure the world over, truly radical opposition at the ballot box is pretty thin. To complete the effect, the conditions of pandemic and lockdown have at times insulated political leaders from scrutiny.

But for all the stilted conventionalism of the election, massive questions are at stake from transformations in the economy and society in the waked of Covid-19, to the constitutional crisis.

That’s why we have launched Conter Live: a live show hosted by Cat Boyd every Wednesday at 7pm, in conjunction with Independence Live, to explore some of the really substantive issues the country faces. We’ll ask questions on which established media remain silent, about the economic and political rights of the mass of the population in a fast changing nation and society.
